Dating back to times when people and organizations used Windows NetMeeting for online meetings, synchronization, collaboration and desktop sharing needed a handful support from some IT guru to set things up for them.

With the Advancements in technology, new dimensions to internet and high fidelity to Internet applications, developers launched a standard platform to make internet applications more sophisticated and called them Rich Internet Applications (RIA). Some of the most happening and important RIAs are :

280 Slide www.280slides.com

Aviary www.aviary.com/tools

Crazy Egg www.crazyegg.com

Google Maps www.maps.google.com

Net Vibes www.netvibes.com

and the list goes on …

One of the most happening RIA for online Webinars these days is

DimDim

So, the next questions comes to ones mind is ?

What is Dim Dim, what’s this Geeky name all about ?

Let’s have a detailed analysis and walkthrough DimDim

DimDim

Dimdim is a software company that provides a web-based platform for real-time, rich-media collaboration and meetings. Dimdim provides free web conferencing service where users can share desktops, show slides, collaborate, chat, talk and broadcast via webcam.

It’s got some great features including

desktop sharing

application sharing, with specific shortcuts for Word, Excel, PDF, Browser, Powerpoint

whiteboard

ability to upload and show presentations

embedded live video and audio so you can talk to others in the meeting

public and private chat (although I confess I don’t know how the presenter can have a private chat when their screen is in full view of everyone in the meeting)

and its all free for 30 days evaluation, after that you can always set-up a new account or buy a reasonable package according to needs. For a home user, the free accounts are just more than sufficient.

So, how will it help you ?

consider you want all your family members to chat or more precisely in a video conference then DimDim does the magic for you. ( You can also chat private & public at the same time). You can host meetings that are set private and only allow the desired members to join

You Can post widgets about invitations to a certain meeting on your personal homepages, blogs or even on facebook. So, all your friends or family members have to do is to signup and they can be a part of the meeting on the specific date and time

Ever wanted someone to help you with the computer stuff ? Well desktop sharing and application sharing makes it easy for your friends or family members in your network to assist you .

You can also work with your colleagues by uploading or viewing presentations .

The best Part ? you don’t really have to install a single thing or to do any geek stuff for all this. All you have to do is either to Host or Join a Meeting and can send/receive invitations via emails . Simple as that.

Still not satisfied ? give it a try www.dimdim.com and you will definitely feel its power and will be moved.

Almost everyone who is familiar with the modern mobile devices knows the present Touchscreen functions and the ones we had about 5 years ago. For the Layman these touchscreens are classified in two types by saying :

The ones we had ages ago and we operated using a Stylus

The one we use now with our fingers like Apple’s Iphone

Technically speaking these two classes are named as :

The former being resistive touch screens and the latter as Capactive Touch Screen

A very general question that comes to ones mind is, which one is better ?

Well, the answer needs to be broken down for understanding. If one had to give one line statement that would be

Definitely Capactive Touch Screen

Everything comes up with the goods and the bads , so, one just cannot superimpose ones own experience or belief. To qualify and side up with the statement one should understand that the technological improvements gave birth to Resistive Touch Screens and they grew bigger and better and Became The Capactitive Touch Screens; just like you see a child growing , adapting, gaining, learning and experiment when he grows older.

Both of the technological comes with goods and the bads, e.g. resistive screens are more precise than the capactive screens, while capacitives are more sensitive and faster in operation. To get an insight story, lets figure out the technology behind these two screens ( keeping in mind the comparison is made between standard resistive touch screens and advanced multi-touch capacitive screens for mobile devices )

Resistive Touch Screen

Resistive touchscreen displays are composed of multiple layers that are separated by thin spaces. Pressure applied to the surface of the display by a finger or stylus causes the layers to touch, which completes electrical circuits and tells the device where the user is touching. As such, resistive type touchscreens require much more pressure to activate than capacitive touchscreens.

Capacitive Touch Screen

In the capacitive system, a layer that stores electrical charge is placed on the glass panel of the monitor. When a user touches the monitor with his or her finger, some of the charge is transferred to the user, so the charge on the capacitive layer decreases. This decrease is measured in circuits located at each corner of the monitor. The computer calculates, from the relative differences in charge at each corner, exactly where the touch event took place and then relays that information to the touch-screen driver software. One advantage that the capacitive system has over the resistive system is that it transmits almost 90 percent of the light from the monitor, whereas the resistive system only transmits about 75 percent. This gives the capacitive system a much clearer picture than the resistive system.

which one is better ?

The Answer would be Capacitive Touch Screen Devices but they come with an added penalty of being more costly than the resistive touch screen devices and in some cases almost double the prices.

which capacitive touch screen phone is better ?

Until October 2009, Iphone won the unprecedented technology war, but, a major competitor shook its bases to the grounds and that is :

HTC HD2 which runs on Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system. Technically speaking the feel of touch screen for HTC HD2 still lacks details when compared with iphone. i would say, standing at Top holding iphone in your hand, you will find HTC HD2 on 9th floor but, if you can scroll down a bit and see both these devices head-to-head you will definitely change your mind.

No doubt, HTC HD2 looks macho and ready to rock , but if you are still not convinced you should try the powers of HTC HD2 and the very very strong operating system running it. This Device is truly a HD device with a screen size of roughly a netbook and delivers great quality results. Backed by Windows mobile platform it comes up with some great features like Wireless Router . If you still beleive Iphone wins the battle by its sleek looks, ultimate touch screen sensation, the best music on the go ; then you should consider that a mighty competitor has hit the grounds and the next release might wipe off Iphone .

watch this youtube video for head-to-head comparison and find out how much HTC has improved in this particular model comparing it to HTC Hero and HTC Tattoo

Most suites or programs of Microsoft Office 2007 allows user to evaluate the product. The trial version
of 2007 Microsoft Office system can be installed by using a 25-character trial product key available from Microsoft while you download the free Office software, and you can use the Microsoft Office 2007 suite or program with full functionality for 60 days.

You may have the Office 2007 CD and are able to install Office 2007 without entering product key. However, Office 2007 will work in reduced functionality mode, where it’s effectively just a viewer for Office documents. Beside, if you forget the trial product key, or don’t wish to register a Windows Live ID to get the trial key, here’s the trick to activate Office 2007, or more correctly, bypass the activation of Office 2007 60 days trial, and making the “trial” word disappear from the Office title at the top and suppress activation and trial expiry prompt.

Note that to use Microsoft Office 2007 beyond 60 days trial period, you need to purchase a valid license for it, available from Amazon or most computer retail store.

To use this hack to crack activation on Office 2007, you need to install Office 2007 without any serial number or product key. If you have installed Office 2007 with a product key or serial number, do the following to clean remove Office 2007 of product key:

Close all Microsoft Office applications.

Run Register Editor by clicking on Start -> Run, and then type “regedit” in the Open box and press Enter key.

Navigate to the following registry Key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration

Note that inside the registry key, there should be another subkey that resembles the following:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{90120000-0030-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE

or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{91120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE

If there is more than one registry entries or subkeys that reference Microsoft 12.0 registration, open up each subkey, and then identify the product by the ProductName value data until you locate the subkey for the product which you want to remove the existing product license key.

For example:

ProductName=Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007
ProductName=Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007

Once found the correct registry subkey, delete the following values:

DigitalProductID
ProductID

Close Registry Editor

Once Microsoft Office 2007 has been installed with no product key, proceed with the following steps:

In Windows Explorer, brose to the following folder:C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller\Proof.en\

Right click on Proof.XML file, select “Open With…” in the right click menu.

In the “Open With” window, select Notepad to be used to open the XML file. In Vista, if you can’t see the Notepad option, simply double click the “Other Programs” to unhide it.

Scroll down to the bottom of the Proof.XML to locate the following lines:</Feature> <Feature Id=”SetupXmlFiles” Cost=”1248?>
<OptionRef Id=”AlwaysInstalled”/>
</Feature>

Change the AlwaysInsalled to neverInstalled so that the line looks like following:<OptionRef Id=”neverInstalled”/>

Save the Proof.xml file. In Windows Vista, you may need to take ownership and grant full access permission to yourself before able to modify the file.

You can now launch Microsoft Office 2007 application such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and etc without prompting for activation.

Make a backup of Original Proof.XML , then Edit the New Proof.XML ( e.g. bkupProof.XML) with Notepad, Save the File to Desktop as you will not be allowed to Save it to the Same Directory

Now, Rename the Original Proof.XML file to some other name ( e.g. abc.XML )

go to Desktop, Rename the saved file to Proof.XML and paste it back to the directory.

We are good to go and Microsoft Office is now Activated for Another 60 days
